Ethiopia establishes a taskforce to help foreign nationals in Khartoum, other areas of Sudan

Addis Ababa, April 25, 2023 (FBC) – The State Minister for Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Mesganu Arga met with Bankole Adeoye, African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security.

Ambassador Mesganu appreciated the African Union for its significant support for the peace process, adding that the measures taken by the government of Ethiopia and subsequent achievements shows Africa can solve its own problems.

The measures taken by the government of Ethiopia enabled the African Union to effectively discharge its historic responsibility, he added.

Mesganu added that the AU-led peace process has also enabled member countries and partners to build trust in organization.

Ambassador Mesganu explained that Ethiopia can be taken as a model by for its homegrown mechanism to solve future problems in a way to strengthen the spirit of Pan-Africanism.

Regarding the current situation Sudan, Mesganu pointed out that the Sudanese people have the capacity to solve their own problems.

He pointed out that a task force has been established to help foreign nationals get out of Khartoum and other areas of Sudan.

Ambassador Bankole Adiwoye, on his part, emphasized that the concerted efforts of countries are essential to transform the African peace and security into a new phase.

They expressed that they have great respect for the steps taken by the Ethiopian government.
